Helping on DOGSY: donate, support, lend a hand
Shelters, animal welfare organisations and dogs in need require two things: money and hands. On DOGSY you will find both in one place. Of every donation to a project or an organisation, 100% is passed on – DOGSY keeps nothing.
What DOGSY offers for helping
Four paths that come together in the «Doing good» section. You see them once you are signed in – here is what awaits you there.
Donate to reviewed projects
The DOGSY team publishes donation options for shelters, animal welfare projects and dogs in need. For every project you see how much has already been collected and how much is still missing. If you cannot decide, you donate where it is needed most.
Donation requests from owners and organisations
Anyone who needs support for a dog or a project submits a request. The team reviews it and publishes it as a donation option. Approved requests are public – you can read them without an account.
Shelters & animal welfare near you
Organisations looking for volunteers have a profile with a location on DOGSY. You filter by radius, see them as a list or on the map – and get in touch directly with «I want to help».
Support DOGSY itself
Cleanly separated from everything else: a voluntary donation to the platform. It funds nothing but operation and further development. DOGSY stays free for everyone, without commission.
How a donation works
Four steps, nothing more.
Register for free
Donations run through your DOGSY account. Registering is free and takes a few minutes.
Choose a cause
A project, an approved donation request, an organisation – or simply where it is needed most.
Choose an amount and pay
You decide the amount. Payment is by credit or debit card or with TWINT, securely via Stripe. DOGSY deducts nothing from it.
Keep the overview and the receipt
Under «My donations» you see all of your donations and their status. Every donation comes with a receipt as a PDF, plus an annual statement for each year.
For every donation you decide how your name appears: anonymously, with your first name only, or with your first and last name.
100% is passed on
DOGSY passes on 100% of all donations to projects, organisations and dogs in need and keeps nothing of it. There is no commission and no deduction for the platform.Clearly separate from that is the voluntary donation to DOGSY itself. It is marked as such in the «Doing good» section and funds nothing but operation and further development – so that DOGSY can stay free for everyone.
- No commission: DOGSY keeps nothing from a donation to a project or an organisation.
- Payment by card or TWINT, securely via Stripe. Billing is always in Swiss francs.
- Received donations appear in the donation section – with the name you chose yourself, or anonymously.
Impact reports: what came of the donations
A sum alone says little. That is why the donation section carries reports on what actually happened with the donations – each with the amount collected.
- For every project you continuously see the donation status and how much is still missing.
- Anyone who has submitted a donation request can post public updates on it. That way everyone learns how the dog or the project has fared since.
Helping without money
Not every kind of help is a donation. Three paths that cost nothing.
Time instead of money
Shelters and animal welfare organisations are looking for hands: walks, events, transport, office work. What exactly is needed is written by each organisation itself. One click on «I want to help» starts the conversation.
Pass requests on
Approved donation requests are public and findable through search engines. You can pass the link on to anyone, including people without a DOGSY account.
Ask for support yourself
If your dog or your project needs help, you submit a donation request. Public are the title, the description, the amount, country and town as well as your first name. Photos and vet bills stay private – only the DOGSY team sees them.
Do you represent a shelter or an organisation?
Shelters, animal welfare associations, foster homes and rescue initiatives create a free profile on DOGSY, look for volunteers through it and can receive donations. That path does not go through a normal account, but through the company profile.

How much of my donation arrives?
For donations to projects, organisations and dogs in need, 100%. DOGSY keeps nothing and takes no commission. Only if you explicitly support DOGSY itself does the money stay for the operation and further development of the platform.
Do I need an account to donate?
Yes. Donations run through your DOGSY account – that way you find your donations again later and can download the receipt. Registering is free. The approved donation requests themselves can be read without an account.
How can I pay?
By credit or debit card and with TWINT. Payment runs via Stripe. Billing is always in Swiss francs; with an account in another country DOGSY additionally shows the approximate amount in your currency.
Is there a minimum or maximum amount?
The amount starts at one franc. DOGSY sets no upper limit – only the payment service has a technical maximum.
Will my name be shown?
Only if you want it to. For every donation you choose between anonymous, first name only, and first and last name. If you choose anonymous, the donation list shows only «Anonymous».
Do I get a receipt?
Yes. Under «My donations» you download a receipt as a PDF for every donation, plus an annual statement for each year. Whether a donation is tax-deductible is not decided by DOGSY; it depends on the receiving organisation and on where you live.
I have no money to spare. Can I still help?
Yes. Organisations near you are looking for volunteers – you filter by radius and get in touch with one click. And you can pass on a donation request without donating yourself.
