Is my dog's personality inborn?

Is a dog born the way he is, or do we make him that way? A bit of both – and that's actually good news.

Maybe you wonder why your dog is the way he is. Was he born like that? Or did you make him that way? The answer: a bit of both. Part of his nature is inborn, the rest comes from everything he experiences in his life.

Part of it is inborn

Some dogs come into the world braver, calmer or more active than others. This basic makeup often shows early on and stays much the same for life. That's why every dog is its own character from day one – even dogs of the same breed can be completely different.
