Why closeness helps stressed dogs

Comforting doesn't spoil your dog: your calm presence helps them let go of stress. Why cuddling is more than just lovely.

When your dog is stressed, something very simple often helps: your calm presence. Affection and a good bond are natural counterweights to stress. One reason is the hormone oxytocin – a messenger substance in the body that's also known as the cuddle hormone.

What happens in the body

During pleasant, friendly contact, your dog's body releases this cuddle hormone. It eases fear and tension, lifts the mood and strengthens your bond. So calm closeness isn't just nice – it genuinely does your dog good.
