Your dog's personality

Daredevil or sensitive soul? Why every dog is wired the way they are – and what that means for your life together.

Dogs are as different as we humans are. One boldly throws themselves at anything new, another prefers to watch from a safe distance first. That's not a mood – it's personality: your dog's own way of being that shows up in many situations and stays fairly stable over time.

Every dog is an individual

Personality comes from two things: what your dog is born with, and what they experience. Breed makes some things more likely, but it never decides anything on its own. Even two dogs of the same breed can be completely different – a German Shepherd isn't automatically like every other German Shepherd. So don't rely on breed descriptions – look at your own dog.
