Summary
Leash or muzzle, inside built-up areas, at certain places, dangerous dogs
The rule
In public places in the built-up area – which also include parks and sports facilities – dogs must be led on a leash or with a muzzle (§ 9 Abs. 1, § 1 Abs. 2 Z 3). The leash may be at most 1.5 metres long (§ 9 Abs. 7). One person may lead at most two large dogs at the same time (§ 9 Abs. 8). The municipal council can designate off-leash areas and order stricter rules or dog bans at certain places (§ 9 Abs. 5).
