Summary
At certain places, dangerous dogs, set by the municipality
The rule
Under § 2 of the Dog Owners Ordinance, dogs must be on a leash at assemblies, parades, folk festivals and public events, in shops and zoos, and in places where evading others or the owner's ability to react is restricted; dangerous dogs must be led outside the enclosed property (also on access paths and in stairwells of apartment buildings) on a leash of at most two metres and with a muzzle (§ 4 Abs. 3). Stricter municipal rules remain unaffected, and in designated dog exercise areas the municipality can lift the leash requirement for non-dangerous dogs by local rules (§ 2 Abs. 3).
