Listed breed

No separate rate – the general rate appliesThe dog levy regulation has no separate rate for listed dogs; it only distinguishes dogs under § 16 Abs. 2 Oö. HHG 2024 (10 euros) and all other dogs (54 euros).

Reductions and exemptions

Exemptions are set by the state law: among others trained assistance dogs and dogs in approved animal shelters (§ 15 Abs. 2 Oö. HHG 2024, see the federal state of Upper Austria).

Registration

Within five working days with the Linz municipal authority (main residence) if the dog is older than twelve weeks; the levy is payable for the first time within two weeks of registration, then annually by 31 March (city's pages).

Off-leash areas in Linz

In the designated off-leash areas there is no leash or muzzle requirement; dogs must still be supervised there so that people and animals are not endangered or disturbed beyond a reasonable level. An online map shows the off-leash areas and the zones where dogs may not be taken.
