As your dog gets older, its body, senses and sometimes its behaviour change. With a few adjustments it stays content, mobile and part of it all for a long time – and enjoys its well-earned retirement.
What changes
Older dogs often hear and see less well, become stiffer and rest more. Joints, teeth and organs now need more attention. Some things seem harmless but can point to pain or an illness. So the rule is: if your dog changes noticeably, have it checked over at the vet's practice – pain often isn't immediately visible in dogs.
