Letting your dog be touched all over
Whether a tick on the belly or a look in the ear: a dog that lets itself be touched calmly makes many things easier. How to build up touch training.
Allowing itself to be touched all over is the basis for almost every kind of care and examination. A dog that permits this calmly spares itself and you a lot of stress, be it when searching for ticks, during grooming or at the vet's practice. And this can be practised in small steps.
Start with the nice spots
Consider where your dog likes to be touched, such as on the chest or shoulder, and where it rather dislikes it, often on the paws, ears or tail. Begin with the pleasant spots and work your way forward slowly. That way your dog associates touch with a good feeling from the start.
