Giving tablets without stress

Tablet hidden in a piece of sausage and the dog eats around it? With this training your dog swallows medicines reliably and willingly.

Giving medicines is often a struggle. Hidden in a treat it doesn't always work, and mixed into the food the tablet tends to be left behind. With clever training you teach your dog to reliably swallow something on a signal, entirely without coercion.

First build a joyful expectation

Choose an announcement word, for example 'Medi'. Say the word, give your dog an especially tasty morsel, and as soon as it has swallowed, an even bigger reward follows. Repeat this until your dog, at the signal, joyfully expects that something good is about to come.
