Summary

Responsible: municipality

The rule

The municipalities impose the dog levy by ordinance of the municipal council on the basis of the federal authorisation; the Carinthian Dog Levy Act applies to these municipalities (§ 1 Abs. 1). For ordinary dogs the amount is not capped; for guard dogs and dogs kept for a profession or business it is at most € 58 per year (§ 5). The levy is payable by anyone who keeps a dog older than three months in the municipality; this must be reported within one month (§ 4 Abs. 1, § 9 Abs. 1). Outside the house and the enclosed property, the dog must wear a valid dog tag (§ 10 Abs. 2). Amount per municipality, see the city page.
