Summary

Responsible: municipality

The rule

The municipalities impose the dog levy by ordinance; the Styrian Dog Levy Act 2013 sets the framework (§ 1). For the first dog it is at least € 60 and at most € 100 per year; for further dogs a graduated rate up to this maximum is permitted; for guard, working and hunting dogs at most € 30 per dog (§ 2). After a passed companion dog test at a recognised dog school it is reduced by 50 % (§ 5 Abs. 3); if a required dog knowledge certificate is missing at the time of the report, it doubles until the certificate is presented (§ 6). The levy must be calculated by the owner and paid by 15 April (§ 9 Abs. 1). Amount per municipality, see the city page.
