Filling the Kong the right way
A stuffed Kong keeps a dog busy, calms it and helps with being left alone. Here's how to fill it for beginners, pros and hot days.
A fillable chew toy made of natural rubber, often called a Kong, is sturdy and versatile. Your dog has to work for the filling, which both gives it a workout and calms it at once. Choose the size so your dog can reach the bottom of the cavity with its tongue – when in doubt, go a little larger.
Made easy for beginners
If your dog hasn't had practice yet, the filling must be easy to reach, otherwise it will give up in frustration. Spread the inside generously with something spreadable, for example quark, cream cheese or a mild liver pâté, especially plenty around the opening. Newcomers only lick the Kong out at first, and that's completely fine.
