Does my dog really need that much sleep?

Adult dogs rest for most of the day. Why enough sleep is so important and how too little rest leads to constant stress.

Many people underestimate how much rest a dog needs. An adult dog sleeps and rests for a large part of the day; puppies and seniors need even more. Sleep isn't a luxury but vital, so that your dog can process what it has experienced and relieve stress.

Rest processes stress

During sleep the body recovers, and the brain processes the many impressions of the day. If your dog gets too little undisturbed rest, tension builds up more and more. A chronically overtired dog quickly becomes irritable, over-aroused and unbalanced, much like an overtired child that can no longer settle.
