As a dog gets older, the activities you share change. Long hikes and wild romping become less frequent or fall away. That can hurt and stir up wistfulness. Yet this calm phase of life has a worth all of its own, if you open your eyes to it.

Shift your perspective

Instead of mourning what's no longer possible, it's worth seeing the beauty in the here and now. A cosy afternoon with your old dog, the familiar cuddles, the short round at a favourite pace: these are precious moments. Many owners look back on this time as especially close.
