Summary
No breed list
The rule
Thuringia no longer has a breed list: the amending Act of 12 February 2018 rewrote § 3; the former list (Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Bull Terrier) is no longer in it. A dog only counts as dangerous if the authority establishes this in an individual case after a temperament test – for example because it has bitten a person or, without being attacked, an animal, has repeatedly jumped at people aggressively outside the enclosed property, or chases or kills livestock, cats, dogs or game (§ 3 Abs. 2 ThürTierGefG).
More details from the source
- Conditions
- A dangerous dog requires a permit from the responsible authority, among other things with competence, minimum age of 18, reliability, liability insurance and chip (§ 4 Abs. 1); leash and muzzle when leading the dog (§ 12).
Open points
No consolidated version read (the state law portal cannot be retrieved as text); read: the 2011 Act and the 2018 amending Act in the Law and Ordinance Gazette. Later amendments not checked. Of the new version of § 3, only Abs. 1 to 3 read.
